On 25th November 2014 Oxford City Council resolved to grant permission for the Reserved Matters (detailed designs) submission for Westgate Oxford Alliance’s £500m redevelopment of the Westgate Centre.
The Alliance, a JV between The Crown Estate and Land Securities, has spent four years preparing the plans and undertaking extensive consultation with the local community and key stakeholders.
The 800,000 sq ft retail-led mixed use development will have a 13,000 sq m flagship John Lewis as its anchor department store, and is due to open in late 2017.
The new Westgate will provide space for shops, restaurants, cafés and leisure uses including a boutique 5- screen Curzon Cinema, set in a mix of covered streets, arcades, lanes and squares.
